Wearable Waves at The Padstow Lobster Hatchery - Sunday 25th May
Join Gemma during her solo exhibition at The National Lobster Hatchery in Padstow to get creative and learn about repurposing and upcycling to help protect our oceans for our precious marine life and our future generations.
Date: Sunday 25th June 2025
Time: 10am - 12pm
Location: The Visitor Centre - Upper floor at The National Lobster Hatchery
South Quay, Padstow,
PL28 8BL
Limited to 8 people
*Please note, this ticket price does not include the entry fee to the museum which is required on the day of the event. The price of this is £8 per adult, this is payable on the day to the museum directly and that entry ticket is then valid for 12 months. All of that entry fee goes towards their very important work.*
During this workshop Gemma will talk you through all the many ways in which you can re think waste and discarding unwanted items, showing you how you can save things from ending up on landfill or floating around in our oceans, polluting the water and harming the precious ecosystem and marine life which Padstow Lobster hatchery works tirelessly to protect.
Bring alonga denim jacket, hoody or tote bag to work on - most people have something in the wardrobe that can be transformed, but if you don’t you could support a local charity shop, vintage store or purchase one secondhand on a resale site like Vinted. The idea here is to upcycle and re-use something old rather than buy new. If you do bring a hoody or tote bag please ensure they are a light colour.
Gemma will then guide you through her process of painting a shoreline beach scene onto the garment, giving it a new lease of life! You may even have the option to add some little lobsters into your scene if you want!
Gemma will be providing all other materials and equipment, including an apron but please do bring/wear clothing that you don’t mind potentially getting some paint on.
Top Tip - Your garment may still be wet when leaving the venue, so it might be a good idea to bring along a coat hanger or something you can lay it on in your car for easy transfer home.
If you have any other questions regarding this event please just email Gemma at hello@gemmalessinger.com
Please note all tickets are non refundable unless cancelled by Gemma herself.
Workshop suitable for people over the age of 10 years old.
