I wanted this piece to portray the momentum that builds when the swell rolls in at Crantock near Newquay in Cornwall. Watching from above on the rocks, feeling the sea spray on face, in complete awe of the power of the ocean.
I have created the depth and texture in the waves of this piece using re-purposed offcuts of fibreglass from surfboard manufacturing. Sculpting the height of the wave so that it appears to roll off the canvas to you.
