'Fistral Rising Tide' Repurposed Surfboard Textured Painting
This surf art piece is a repurposed surfboard, retired from riding waves in the ocean, now transformed into a unique piece of textured wall art.
Once destined for landfill, this surfboard has been rescued and upcycled as a canvas for one of Gemma's textured art paintings. The 3 dimensional wave which breaks down the centre of the board, has been carefully sculpted by Gemma using offcuts of fibreglass from a surfboard shaper in Newquay. This piece focuses on Fistral beach Newquay, Gemma's home and constant inspiration. The swell that rolls into this bay are breathtaking and draw in wave and surf lovers from across the world. For this reason Gemma wanting to take the texture to another level...
The texture has been built up to create the illusion that the wave is rolling off the canvas towards the viewer, almost allowing you to hear it crashing, feeling the sea spray on your face!
As well as Gemma’s standard donation to charity Surfers Against Sewage, which she makes with every sale, an addition donation is made to the charity Wave Project from the final sale of the board.
This piece can hang horizontally or vertically on a wall using specific board hangers (I can send some recommendations). Or it can be displayed on a floor based surfboard stand.
