Crantock Swimmers Paradise

This was painted from one of my first drone research photos one early morning down on Crantock beach near Newquay. There’s a very special part of the beach that is like a lagoon if the tide is right. That morning it was completely flat and the water was crystal clear – a serene swim in what felt like paradise.
I have created deep, heavy texture on the rocks in this piece to try to portray them almost floating on the surface of the water. With the water so clear I also wanted to focus on the shadows of the lower level rocks below the waters surface.
