Coastline Dreaming

£6,500.00

Limited Edition prints also available from £70 - please see print shop for more details.

80cm x 127cm canvas - framed with a 5cm deep, white wood tray frame

The showcase piece for this St Ives collection, the view in this painting inspired the whole series. Carbis Bay was the focal point for these paintings and the view of the left side of the beach, looking down from the Carbis Bay Estate started it all. One special moment, this view and this piece encapsulating it.

The rocky cliffs in the bottom right corner of this piece have been created using sand and plastic washed up on the shoreline at Carbis Bay, from micro plastic through to a sea aged piece of Lego. Re-purposing these plastics into art saves them from being washed back into the ocean and helps to preserve our waters for future generations.

As with all of this collection, the white water detail has been built up using offcuts of fibreglass, a by-product of surfboard manufacturing and given to Gemma by Newquay based surfboard shaper Rochfort Customs. These offcuts are non recyclable so by Gemma re-purposing them into her art, she is helping the shaper be one step closer to being zero waste.
