Bespoke Paintings For Your Beach Wedding
A shoreline painting is a truly unique memento of your wedding day. Imagine encapsulating the light, the colour of the ocean, the roar of the sea from your beach side wedding into an original painting by Gemma Lessinger. It really is the ultimate keepsake or gift from your guests.

“When I was first commissioned for a wedding shoreline painting, I wanted it to provide something more than art to the happy couple. I wanted to create something with a story that could be passed on through generations to come.
I provided little jars to the couple and asked them to fill the jars with sand from the beach on the day of the wedding. Jars were also handed out to the bridal party, family members and friends to do the same. Using each jar’s contents, I mixed the memories of the day into my paints, I created a piece of art representing the shoreline on their special day.”

“The piece is even more stunning in person and we are truly in love with it. It's such a privilege to have such a unique and sentimental reminder of our special day and I couldn't have wished for a better wedding day surprise.”
What’s involved in a Wedding Commission?
Gemma will come to your beach wedding location on the day of your wedding and gather research from the location to create your painting. That research involves gathering sand to encapsulate in the painting, but most importantly, drone and photo referencing at the exact moment you say ‘I do’. So the painting captures the exact colours, light, tide line and swell of the waves at that very special moment.
No painting is carried out on the wedding day, Gemma will take all research back to her studio to begin her textured art process. A rough guide for lead time for the piece is 3 months after the wedding day (depending on size and Gemma’s commission bookings at the time).
The best bit is, you can ask guests to contribute towards your wedding painting as your wedding gift! Gemma can send you an image or details for you to send out to your guests, just let her know that is something you’d like to do at the time of booking.
Pricing: This can be tailored to your budget, the smallest canvas size option for a wedding day canvas is 60cm x 40cm which starts at £1500 but can go up to as large as you wish. Price includes Gemma conducting research footage on the wedding day (including drone footage depending on weather and airspace restricitions), full framing of the painting by Gemma’s local artisan framer who hand crafts each frame.
Payment plans are available to help you spread the cost.

Lydia & Phillip Vollan - June 2024 - Wedding at Lusty Glaze
“For our wedding gift to each other, we commissioned Gemma to create a piece to capture the moment we said our wedding vows on Lusty Glaze Beach and couldn't have asked for anything more in the process or the work itself.
Gemma is easy-going, intuitive and full of amazing creative ideas. She listened to our thoughts and budget and even incorporated sand from the beach we married on and the offcuts from my dress into the piece. It is nothing short of stunning. We've put it in a place we can see it every day. It is such a special reminder of a lovely day.
As a surprise for my husband to be, I also commissioned Gemma to paint two pairs of vans (his and hers) with seascapes to wear on the big day, mainly so I didnt fall over walking down the aisle on sand. I had some fancy shoes to change into later in the day but loved the vans so much, I didn't take them off.
If you are considering a commission or piece, for a wedding or otherwise, I cannot recommend Gemma enough. Trust me, the best wedding day decision we made.”
